Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) has plans to recruit a total of 203 new employees in 2018, including 72 regular staff (34 waitlist), 58 technical staff (37 waitlist), and 2 administrators. Starting salaries offered are approximately NT$32,000/month for regular staff, NT$46,000 for technical staff, and NT$81,000/month for administrators. TIPC President Tien-kuei Kuo notes that since the restructuring of national harbor administration in March 2012, TIPC has, in addition to supporting the reorientation of Taiwan’s shipping sector, focused significant attention and effort on developing the peripheral assets of Taiwan’s commercial ports, on implementing the national southbound policy initiative, and on supporting Taiwan’s nascent offshore wind turbine sector. Thus, this year’s new employee recruitment effort will be significantly larger than normal in order to ensure that the company can meet the professional needs of these new business areas effectively and fill many positions recently vacated due to retirement. TIPC Human Resources Department Acting Senior Director Ming-shan Hung announced that this year’s recruitment exam categories include real estate development, shipping and transportation management, business management, sales administration, legal affairs, international marketing (English), finance, occupational safety and health, information, nursing, environmental protection, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, turbine engineering, and shipping technology. Furthermore, this year’s exams reserve two general administrative positions for Taiwan’s indigenous minority. TIPC encourages all with an interest in joining Taiwan’s port sector to register for this year’s recruitment drive. The 2018 recruitment exam process will be administered by the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology. The open registration period began April 30th (Monday) and ends May 21st (Monday). The first-tier (written) test will be held on June 10th in the cities of Keelung, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Hualien, respectively. The second-tier (oral) test will be held on June 30th in Kaohsiung. Please visit the official TIPC website or the NKUST (Nanzih/Cijing Campuses) website for further details and updates.
