Taiwan International Ports Corporation Ltd. Appreciates 6-Year Long Mutual Growth with Maritime Industry And Cooperates Abroad as Sustainable Corporate

Taiwan International Ports Corporation Ltd. (TIPC) celebrated its 6th anniversary on March 2nd, 2018 with guests of the maritime, academic and official sectors at the “Small Theater” of Kaohsiung Main Public Library. With determination to promote official policy of green energy industry, TIPC signed one Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the ceremony for “development of LNG clean energy in Port of Taichung” with Taiwan Power Company, as well as the other MOUs for “offshore wind power green energy industry” with Century Wind Power Co., Ltd., TECO Corporation and Bureau of Standards, Metrology & Inspection, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Golden Vessel Awards were granted to outstandingly performed customers. As the ending of ceremony, the chairman of TIPC honored the model employees of TIPC in public, filled with special meaning of celebration. Mr. Lin, Chi-Kuo, the Secretary Genenal of Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), expressed congratulations on TIPC’s 6th anniversary and delivered a speech to recognize TIPC’s effort and strategic measures in the past year, especially for the joint venture with investors such as Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. to set up a container depot in Surabaya, Indonesia. MOTC also encouraged TIPC to cooperate with local governments in terms of revitalization and restructure of waterfront assets, creating new values of port diversity as well as promoting industry development in local. Besides, TIPC is expected to accomplish all significant port facility constructions as scheduled, and carry out the belief of “client-oriented”. Mr. WU, Hong-Mou, the chairman of TIPC, reckoned the company will conduct the development plan on the basis of forward looking to define the new aesthetics of port, shape the business culture of mutual prosperity, and bear the corporate social responsibility. Mr. GUO, Tien-Kuei, the president of TIPC, also mentioned in order to realize the intelligence of port and newly-featured waterfront, the company is going to achieve the sustainable environment and construction, revive the port facilities, as well as the thriving future for both port and city. During the ceremony, TIPC signed the MOUs with investors: the first one for “development of LNG clean energy in Port of Taichung” with Mr. YANG, Wei-Fuu, the chairman of Taiwan Power Company; the second ones for “offshore wind power green energy industry” with Century Wind Power Co., Ltd., TECO Corporation and Bureau of Standards, Metrology & Inspection, Ministry of Economic Affairs individually; the last one for “green smart vehicle logistics” with Tonglit Logistics Co., Ltd. Furthermore, TIPC held the contract signing with Lien Hai Terminal & Stevedoring Co., Ltd. for Kaohsiung frozen goods shipping center investment. TIPC’s achievement of official new energy policy implementation and port logistics business development cannot be ignored since the company was established in 2012. TIPC appreciates the support of customers in maritime industry in 2017, sailing against the stiffening headwind to stay competitiveness. The total container handling volume grows as 14.91 million TEUs last year, and Port of Kaohsiung reaches the volume of 10 million TEUs four years in a row. The number of passengers is close to 1.43 million, in which the Port of Keelung exceeds 1 million. The performance of Free Trade Zone of the Port of Kaohsiung also makes a record, growing 53.74% in volume and 16.95% in value. To express TIPC’s gratitude, the Golden Vessel Awards were granted to outstandingly performed 35 customers in the past year, including terminal operators, bulk cargo terminal operators, stevedores (container & bulk cargo), shipping agencies and special contribution. In 2018 TIPC keeps promoting port programs and creating better industrial environment by mutual relationship with port sectors.
