As part of ongoing efforts to maximize the value and utilization of existing assets, Port of Hualien, TIPC completed the public selection process for the lease of the port's Assembly Hall on January 11th of this year (2022) and, on January 24th, signed a 5-year lease on the facility with the 1st preferred bidder, Hualien Badminton Sports, Ltd. Hualien Badminton Sports, an organizer of competitive badminton events and badminton classes, is led by a professional team of sports trainers and managers. The company plans to renovate the assembly hall building into a “professional, high-quality, and safe” sports & recreation facility over this year, with sports complex management, competitive sports, fitness classroom, and sports facilities rental functions. The company further looks forward to promoting physical education to the broader public and promoting related events. Located in Hualien City's Meilun District, Port of Hualien offers more than just dreamy coastal vistas. The port is convenient to multiple sports and recreation hotspots, including Hualien County Stadium, Two-Lake Cycling Trail, and public basketball courts and swimming pools, making the area an ideal physical fitness destination for city residents and visitors alike. Once opened to the public, the renovated Assembly Hall facility will provide yet one more destination in the area for fitness enthusiasts as well as be an engine promoting the popularity of badminton in the city. Also, the state-of-the-art courts will offer an ideal venue for training up badminton pros, creating a platform for sustained development of the sport on the East Coast that can provide consistent, professional training to athletes from a young age. Further pursuing the effective use of its business facilities, Port of Hualien has recently completed renovation work in the port's main administration building on the 1st floor entrance hall and meeting facilities as well as upgrades to basement rooms and fresh-air systems. Beyond making port administrative spaces more effective for internal use, ongoing renovation work has greatly advanced the success of port facility leasing efforts, with over 80% of space available for lease within the port now already taken. The successful lease of the Assembly Hall marks another important step toward maximizing the effective utilization of Port of Hualien assets.
